Anyway, if our cash register’s to be believed, you lot are playing fast and loose with your Christmas preparedness this year. (Or maybe we just don’t have anything you want… fair enough I guess, but then why are you still reading this?)
I digress. The point is, it’s high-time Adelaide’s Christmas spirit started flowing. Luckily for you, Heirloom and everyone at Adelaide Arcade are here to help.
A week before the world’s manipulative mega-corporations try their darnedest to lure you in with that red-hot mess, Black Friday, Adelaide Arcade will be doing something decidedly different; celebrating independent, unique, local retailers, artists and craftspeople.
The Cliff’s Notes:
We’re all staying open late! 5pm - 8pm (or 9pm, depending on the shop.)
We’ve got all sorts of fun things going on, to help you get your Christmas shopping started (and/or finished): Exhibition openings, live music, Christmas competitions, (tasteful) sales, and MORE!
Most stores will be doing something special for the evening and Heirloom is no exception! In fact, we’ll have FOUR things on offer this Friday, so buckle up:
Professional whetstone knife sharpening demo/on-the-spot* sharpening service.
Local knife sharpener, Jack, from Jack Knife Sharpening will be out front with his knife sharpening skills on display. So, if you’ve ever wanted to see a pro at work on a whetstone, or you’d like to bring your own knife along for Jack to sharpen, you’d best put this Friday night in your diary!
*Depending on demand and condition of your knife/knives, on-the-spot sharpening may not be suitable. However, you are very welcome to leave your knife with Jack to take back to his workshop. Collection can be made from Heirloom once service/repair is complete.
Jack’s fees:
1-3 knives: $15 per knife
4-7 knives: $13 per knife
8+ knives: $12 per knife
Any size up to 300mm
Price on repair: Minor repair +$5, Major repair: +$10 for the particular knife.

3. FREE paper ornament making in-store!
Feeling crafty? Head in store and we’ll teach you how to make your own simple (but effective!) Christmas ornaments from beautiful hand-made, fair trade paper. You’re welcome to take home whatever you make!
Not feeling crafty? Heirloom also stocks a comprehensive range of hand made Christmas ornaments that you don’t have to assemble! These aren’t free though. Obviously!
4. Complete Adelaide Arcade’s Very Odd Christmas Trail to get yourself in the running to win a $100 Adelaide Arcade voucher! (Then spend that voucher at Heirloom!)
This year, Heirloom is one of the ten stops along the Very Odd Christmas Trail. So, if you’re in the mood to win a $100 Adelaide Arcade voucher, grab a trail sheet from our friends at Orchard Bookstore, and head around to the participating stores to find the “odd one out” in each store’s window.
